Michael Russo is considered a major Northwest artist even though he spent the first half of his life on the East Coast. He settled in Portland in 1947 where he found a favorable environment in which he could be free from the 'aesthetic' success that obsess contemporary artists. My taste in art is universal and willful depending on where my searching mind takes me.
