For more than forty years, Walter Issacs was a leader in the development of Northwest art. As Director of the University of Washington's School of Art for thirty years, from 1923 - 1954, he lectured, wrote articles and generally promoted the visual arts in the region. His painting style harkens back to his early training in the French Academies. This is one of only two large-scale paintings in his career.
