Spawning Grounds

Preston is of Tlingit and Irish ancestry. I grew up with the knowledge that my life was very much tied to the Salmon swimming up our rivers in search of ancient spawning grounds. The salmon run was plentiful and our nets and racks were filled with red flesh of the salmon. This print is my version of a traditional bentwood box that would have been used to hold salmon during the harvest. –Artist statement
