Alfredo Arreguin was born in 1935 in Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico. This composition is a celebration of the landscape and natural elements of the Pacific Northwest. Here I attempt to depict the beauty and harmony involved in the struggle of the majestic salmon as it heroically swims upstream to die, but also to spawn and thus continue the natural cycle. –Artist statement
