The subject matter of my photographs is often drawn from my experiences being born of mixed race and is rooted in the geography of my upbringing. I spent my formative years living in a housing project where almost every ethnicity was represented on each block. Born to a half Italian and Eritrean mother and a father who is Irish, Native American and Italian, I was one of the few mixed race kids in the school. –Artist statement
