The View from San Galgano, Italy

Over the years, a method of working evolved for the artist who traveled internationally, taking photographs and returning to the studio to paint the glimpses of life he had seen in the streets.  This painting is a study done directly on the actual photograph.  It was inspired by a medieval pilgrimage site in the Tuscan region of Italy of San Galgano.
