Study for Girls in Agra

A central theme the past few years is the relationship between a contemporary society and the past.  My interest in all of these themes can be traced, at least in part, to my having spent my early years in the American South.  This painting is one of a series of studies done in India, in the city of Agra, a city known for the Taj Mahal.
