This simple gesture to replace the boarded-up windows and doors of the WPA shelter with opaque, realistic relief carvings of historically appropriate windows and doors transforms a dilapidated looking building into a handsome civic structure, a monument to the New Deal era, and a new context for the adjacent children’s spray park.
