Anniqua (aka A Quiet Evening)

From of the Suburban Dreams series. I was interested in including a Muslim family in my series and Anniqua's family was happy to oblige. After interviewing the family, I learned that two nights a week, they shut off their electronics to spend the evening together in their living room. I'm always striving to make a photograph that's authentic to my subjects but which also adds something new to my project. –Artist statement
