Changes 1

The simple beauty of nature, though it looks still to our eyes, is constantly changing and teeming with activity.  It is this quality I want to capture in my work.  That of a seemingly quiet, inert surface alive with the continual process of change, decay and growth within its deepest layers…I don't seek to paint sumi-e or traditional brush painting.  What I seek to do is find my own way, using the ink along with mixed media on rice paper with the inspiration and spirit of the brush painting tradition…not as a rote model but as a continuing source of encouragement.
