In the Odyssey by Homer, Odysseus (Ulysses) is tied to the mast of his ship so that he can hear, but not be led astray by the seductive songs of the Sirens. He is nearly driven mad by the beauty of what he hears. Kane's Ulysses seems near madness, but it seems that these sirens are more loud than beautiful.
