Late Saturday Night - Pool

This painting suggests the energy of creatures, sticks and watery movement in a pool which has become illuminated.  The vibrant colors play against the deeper blues and purples.  I wanted the imagery to be abstracted and to suggest kinetic activity – like objects flowing and swirling through a watery atmosphere.  Although not consciously referred to, Picasso's Night Fishing at Antibes has long intrigued me and there is an echo of that scene at night which includes an underwater view in this painting.
