An Ohio native who graduated from Yale University in 1973, Hascall has been deeply involved in the Seattle arts since his arrival in the 1980s.  He is interested in portraying the concept of illusion while at the same time reminding the viewer that they are primarily looking at a flat surface with paint on it. In this work, the artist walks a line between the two spaces, our real space and an illusionary one.
