Maynard is of the Penelakut and Kwagiulth ancestry. Each of the artist's pieces incorporates a legend or mythic character. His use of eye-popping color and dynamic sense of design sets his characters off from their two-dimensionality, releasing them to make mischief or stand proudly on their own two feet.
