In the spirit of spindle whorls, this circular Coast Salish design depicts humans and Salmon. The humans are in the center of the design, while the Salmon are on the periphery of the design. The Salmon and humans in the design are interconnected through visual punning. This symbolizes the symbiotic relationship of humans and animals, as well as the Northwest Coast tradition of welcoming Salmon to rivers through singing and drumming.
