Clayton James is a painter and sculptor who lives in LaConner, Washington. Starting as a painter, he began to create many shapes of beautiful coiled pots as well as coiled sculpture. He fired his work in his back yard. He continued his painting however, much of it accomplished in the outdoors of the Skagit Valley, Cascade Mountains and Eastern Washington. Discontinuing his coiled pots, he now works full time as a painter who is strongly influenced by Southwest landscape. –Artist statement
