A moment of relaxation in the life of a woman expecting changes to soon come. Rendered in pastel, the medium is produced with a stick comprised of powdered pigment and gum binder. Pastel works are often called paintings because color is applied by mass, and not by line as in drawing. Pastels do not lend themselves to blending, although this can be achieved by gently rubbing side-by-side strokes of color on the surface.
