What first appears to be an abstract arrangement of colors is really a distilled sketch of bright sunlight on a patch of lawn, surrounded by trimmed bushes with a glimpse of street in the shadows beyond. Like the impressionist painters this artist has undoubtedly studied, she is making a painting that is both about a place and about the act of painting.
