Description: The project consists of three decorative cast concrete planters with stainless steel corners, each 6’ by 8’ by 2’, located at the SW corner of Beacon Ave and Spokane St.

Artist Statement: Hydro Roots is first of all about being a tree planter, but the foundation of my concept is the give and receive relationship between roots and water.  Water nourishes the roots in order for the tree to grow which in turn supplies shade for the water to exist in its liquid form.  Tree roots also keep sediments in place allowing for clear and clean water to flow.  The metal corners symbolize pipes which we humans use to transport water, in theory similar to roots.

Location: Beacon Avenue South & South Spokane Street, Seattle WA  98144
