Description: A polychrome terrazzo pattern leads from the entry through the lobby, in colors and linear patterning that resembles electrical wiring diagrams. Stainless steel insets etched with images from City Light archives punctuate the design.
Artist Statement: The artwork, Conductive Paths, is conceived as a visual conduit – a continuous linear pattern integral to the floor, presenting a metaphor for the flow of electrical energy within the complex weave of electrical cable. The pattern incorporates images, historical and contemporary, which highlight and honor the work and service provided by Seattle City Light workers specifically at the North Service Center.
