Description: The artwork is a skillfully crafted sundial, made of inlaid and cast bronze, shells, ceramic, and found objects embedded in multicolored concrete. The work measures 28 feet in diameter; a cast bronze moon and sun are inlaid at opposite ends. To tell time, the viewer stands on a central oval embellished with an inlaid bronze calendar, astrological signs, and references to the natural world. The viewer becomes the gnomon for the sundial, casting a shadow toward the perimeter of the work, where mosaic hour markers indicate the time of day. A close examination of the artwork reveals small figures, sea life, and other forms embedded in the work.
