If getting to a real beach is too time-consuming, there is always the roof. Referred to as Tar beach because of its tar paper covering, it may not be the most glamorous place to have a picnic. But, hey it's close, warm and a great place to work on your tan.
Tar Beach, Olive Way was taken on my roof one summer Sunday morning. (This photo) contains the same 'in-between' moment. (It) also creates the illusion of something that isn't. –Artist statement
