Okayness

My work incorporates textiles ranging from vintage kimono silk to hand dyed and painted silk organza, to create flat sewn compositions that hew closer to abstract paintings than traditional quilting. The fabric pieces are arranged to find harmonious juxtapositions after which they are tacked down and sewn into place. Once the edges are sewn, I continue to sew ever contracting spirals towards the center of each cloth. This process is my meditation. –Artist statement
