Pike Powers studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, where she earned a BFA in 1981 and went on to complete an MFA at Yale University School of Art in 1987. Powers received numerous awards and fellowships, including the prestigious Prix de Rome in 1988 and an award in painting from the New York Foundation for the Arts in 1992. From 1993 until 2007, she was artistic director at the Pilchuck Glass School. She came to this position as a painter and sculptor with an impressive technical knowledge of glass. She has taught at various art schools, held numerous seminars, and exhibited in both solo and group shows in the United States and Europe.
