The Finch and the Pear started with my original photos of a finch at our bird-feeder, and a nice pear. In the studio I painted the entire image in monochromatic earth-tone colors. Over that base painting continued with multiple layers that included more colorful pigments – cadmium red and yellow, ultramarine, and cobalt blue. –Artist statement
