Single Pear-Up Front

Terry Johnson is a skilled draftsman with both paint and graphite.  Often working with human anatomy, the artist alters and manipulates the subject matter, attempting to accentuate the dramatic, multiple light sources.   Here the artist creates a 3-dimensional illusion on a 2-dimensional surface, making the pear appear to actually sit upon the horizontal surface of a niche.  Johnson is a long time instructor at Cornish College of Art in Seattle.
