Portrait (Background)

This collage is about the structures inherent to the physical photographic image. When photographs are stripped from the original context of the photo album and reorganized, they have the capacity to speak about the photographic process itself. Putting several studio portraits into a cubist blender and affixing the bits offers a glimpse into seeing several pictures at the same time, their similarities and differences blurring in and out of focus. A variety of disparate photographic moments merge and draw attention to the prism through which we read them. –Artist statement
