Island Collision

My work reflects my passion for how important water, trees, and nature in all its forms, are to each of us.  I want my paintings to transcend my subject matter by being impressions of the essence of the subject – not just a likeness. The dramatic beauty and power of the ocean is a favorite motif I use to capture this emotion. I find joy in colors, shapes, and the consistency of luscious, thick paint. This painting portrays the meeting of the ocean with landforms, like the newly forming land from volcanoes, where the waves come ashore. –Artist statement
