When things in life are feeling worrying or precarious, drawing lets me construct self-contained worlds that are careful and playful at the same time. The more details I add, the longer I get to hang out in the world of the drawing. In the context of my art, ordinary objects like houseplants, mugs, and rain boots become mysterious and magical, I think of them as secret gifts left behind for each viewer to discover. I filled this treehouse with things I wish for all of us, however sadly unrealistic these can be at times. –Artist statement
