Played haptic surfaces against visual shape is part of a body of work titled "The sun never knew how great it was until it struck the side of a building." This series of photographs began in 2010 and is emblematic of their work in higher education, teaching the photogram process as a way to reframe imaging technology outside of prioritizing a Euro-centric whiteness and emphasizing how the shadow area in this process creates light and multiplicity. This work will serve to highlight the municipal support of the carceral system and question the financial perpetuation of the school-to-prison pipeline. –Artist statement
