Pioneer Square Murals

Artist Statement: Pioneer Square has a long history of being home to Seattle’s artistic communities and the pandemic stole that from us. First Thursday artwalks were canceled, folks worked from home, and many artists found themselves in unstable housing situations. For these reasons it meant the world to have the boarded up businesses adorned with local artist murals. The pioneer square residents council was able to pay $1000 for each mural which meant the work also helped revitalize the area’s economy.
