12 Hydrostone Panels was designed as an extension of the concepts and imagery found in the artist's Vitrification Kit:  A Little Alchemy, Humor and Truth.  The Vitrification Kit was commissioned in 1996 by the Seattle Arts Commission’s Visual Artist’s program for the Portable Works Collection. Atoms for Peace and Crane Weaving reflect stamp images which were issued in 1955 in the U.S.A. and in 1974 in Japan, respectively.
