Escalation

Wendell Brazeau was trained in Paris and saw modern art evolve first-hand.  He brought this experience with him when he came to teach for many years at the University of Washington in Seattle.  His brilliantly colored abstract canvases used geometric forms, optical illusions, still lives, figures, and repeated shapes, always searching for a method.  His limited vocabulary and use of strong color makes his work very recognizable and ageless.
