History: In 1984, voters approved a bond issue that allowed for the renovation of 16 fire stations. Three artists Tom Askman, Kenny Schneider and Ellen Ziegler were chosen to work as a team on the project. The artists were asked to examine all of the fire stations and to select those they would like to work with. Five stations were selected.
Description: Hot Cha Cha, on the lawn south of the station, is a rectangular stainless steel case containing 66 stainless steel firefighters arranged in six rows. Each figure has moveable arms and legs. They are strung together along six shafts that rotate in unison through connecting gears, turned by a handle on one side of the case. When a viewer turns the handle, all of the figures dance and march. The case is approximately six feet square and two feet deep, and fronted with clear Plexiglas.
Location: Fire Station 41, 2416 34TH Avenue West
