Shades of Blue

My interest in making quilts was stimulated by the encouragement of a woman who admired my doll work and invited me to join her quilting group.  I soon found I loved putting together different sizes, shapes, color and textures of fabric to create something that reflects my artistic individuality.  With this piece I was 'riffing' on the color blue.  Combining hand-dyed pieces with commercial fabric and various textures of blue, I was trying to capture the boldness of blues on a black background. –Artist statement
