Description: Six glazed terra cotta panels installed in exterior niches of the building, each depicting a legend about the sky extracted from stories found in the library.

Artist Statement: As I began to research and talk with community members and sketch the future art-to-be, it became clear that one important element would be to create a work that would reflect the population of High Point. By using folk tales and legends to represent the diverse population, it seemed that this could be accomplished in a way that would appeal to people of all cultural backgrounds.  In the end I chose (with the help and input of High Point community members and High Point Branch Librarians) five legends from around the world relating to the sun, the stars, and the moon that became the inspiration for this series of sculptures. Like the sun, moon, and stars, the library provides illumination and inspiration for all.

Location: Highpoint Branch Library, 3411 Southwest Raymond Street
