Tony Hunto was born in Fort Rupert on Vancouver Island, and is of Kwakiutl ancestry. He learned how to carve from his father Henry and grandfather, Mungo Martin. From 1952 to 1962, this family of artists created an incredible collection of totem poles and house fronts for the Royal British Columbia Museum's Thunderbird Park. Hunt is known for his innovative silkscreen prints on paper, as he continues to push the graphic art traditions of his ancestors in new directions.
