Coast Salish art is relatively unknown to most people today.  It almost became a lost art form after European contact because Salish lands were the first to be settled by the Europeans which adversely affected my peoples' traditional lifestyle.  As a Coast Salish artist, I have devoted a great deal of time in my life trying to revive the art form. –Artist statement
