My paintings consist of many fastidious movements.  They begin with placement of objects on a planar surface, which is the starting point that defines the ground on which the items rest.  The objects I chose are not of the classical variety, rather they are chosen merely for form and texture.  The objects in this painting were found in a warehouse on Burnside in Portland, Oregon.  I chose these ceramic pots and corroded metal remnants for their texture and color.  The focus is on simplicity, composition and form.  I intend to convey a sense of balance and serenity. –Artist statement
