Untitled "Propio Idioma" series

The artist begins her painting by making rudimentary, intuitive marks to activate the surface.  In this series, she developed Propio Idioma (my own/proper language) script-like marks similar to handwriting.  The dense layers of paint and mediums have been scratched, scraped and scrubbed.  These 'abused' surfaces reveal qualities of vulnerability and transmutation.  As the marks manifest, I perceive them as an occult impulse or urging. –Artist statement
