While my general goals tend toward an expression of consciousness and conflict of the individual and society, the artwork does not have a literal subject.  For me, painting is not the illustration of ideas, nor simply the arrangement of form.  It is a process of discovery that necessitates the union of intuition and intellect…My work is informed by a poetic understanding of the biological factors and social implications of genetic engineering and spare-parts surgery.  I am interested as well in the direct connection between the physical and mental implicit in phrenology, physiognomy, and attitudes pertaining to cosmetic plastic surgery. –Artist statement
