Forms of Power

Description: Inside the large upper-story windows in the main building, Noah created back-lit silhouettes: hands playing the children's game "rock/paper/scissors," a couple about to kiss, a scientist, and a blindfolded figure. The silhouettes range in size from six feet by seven feet to eight feet by 10 feet. They are painted on sandblasted clear Plexiglas, with a backing of colored translucent Plexiglas. The artwork, lit at night by a timing device, is most striking after dark.

Artist Statement: The three orange windows contain a series of images from the children's hand game 'rock/paper/scissors,' and represent physical power. The pink window, showing a couple about to kiss, represents the power of love, while the figure of the scientist on the blue window illustrates the power of the mind. The green blindfolded figure in the white window seems to be saying 'Justice is blind,' representing the power of the law.
