Several rivers were diverted when the Duwamish Waterway was formed to facilitate shipping and industry. The Black River formerly flowed from Lake Washington to the Duwamish River, near the present site of Fort Dent Park, which is the vague point at which the Green River becomes the Duwamish River. –Artist statement
