Duwamish Waterway 11/1/97 (R6F7)

After photographing along the edge of the Duwamish River for a number of years, Ford became interested in “seeing things from the river’s point of view, rather than the land’s point of view.”  He aspired to see raindrops hit the surface of the river, at the same time as seeing below the surface of the river. . . with the surface flowing across the center of the photograph.  He devised an apparatus to accomplish this, and with chest waders, walked into the river with protected camera and captured what you see here.
