My interest in photographing the Duwamish River lies more with the river, the land, the light, and the weather–rather than the city and the industrial areas nearby. The lights of the city show up in the distant backgrounds of the photographs, as seen through the trees and in the reflections on the surface of the Duwamish River. –Artist statement
