Description: The sculpture, which resembles a full-scale boat's prow emerging from the water, is made of concrete, wood, bronze, and other materials. The artwork is highly detailed and finely crafted. It is used as a play structure by the children who attend the Community Center preschool, as well as by other children from the surrounding residential neighborhood.

The bow of the "boat" faces southwest, toward the source of most local storms. The guardrails and interior benches are made of yellow cedar. Waves made with ceramic tiles and shells surround the "hull" of the boat. The artwork is set in a sandy play yard along with more traditional play equipment.

Location: Ballard Community Center Playground, 6020 28th Avenue Northwest, Seattle WA  98107
