Outside Anatone

Outside Anatone is a small painting of the area around Anatone, Washington, an area in which I have done several larger works. Now there is almost no evidence that it was once a town, 20 miles or so south of Clarkston in a geologically fascinating location that rises abruptly from the bottom of the Snake River Canyon on the Washington side of the river. There are only a couple of very steep primitive roads in this area from the canyon to the top which is the literal edge of the famed Washington wheat fields. –Artist statement
