In 1975, Ms. Daiber found a way to mix the two things that interested her most -- printmaking and ecology.  She decided to do portraits of eight animals threatened with extinction. They were the: Parnassus Apollo Butterfly, Snow Leopard, Devil’s Hole Pup-fish, Black-Footed Ferret, Rocky Mountain Goat, Southern Bald Eagle, Blue Whale and Aye-Aye, (a Lemur native to Madagascar). In the intervening years none of the animals she selected has become extinct, but all are still endangered. The Black Footed Ferret has been reduced to only a few dozen left in the wild.
