Project History: Commissioned using CETA funds and administered by the SAC, George Tsutakawa created this artwork with the help of Vic Kubo as part of the Artist in the City Program. Kubo worked as an artist in residence under Tsutakawa.

Description: The bronze vertical sculpture has a pedestal that serves as a base and a pedestrian bench. Three Chinese symbols for Heaven, Man, and Earth are integrated into the piece.

Artist Statement: This work is closely related to my other themes; totemic designs and obos (the piled rock memorials placed on mountain trails in Tibet), but without the use of water I had to be more careful with proportion and concentrate on the scene from different angles. Sculpture, not water, became the most important aspect.
