Description:  This mosaic, created with pieces of natural and stained redwood, is a modern adaptation of a traditional birch bark and beadwork design of tribes in the Eastern Woodlands region of North America. The artist, George Morrison, is a member of the Chippewa tribe, and Eastern Woodlands people who lived on both shores of Lake Superior in what is now Michigan. Underwater Panthers are supernatural beings the Chippewa believed inhabited the lakes of the region
